Invalid area code?

I woke up this morning and checked my caller ID.

There was a number listed on there as Unknown Name, but the area code was 019. I'd never seen that before, and tried looking it up on every reverse phone directory I could find. Every one of them said that it was an invalid area code. Intelius said that the name was available, but it's not always accurate and I don't want to pay $15 for false information.

If this is an invalid area code, how can it call me? Is it a phony telephone number? How is this possible?

If you know where this call came from, please let me know. Curiosity is getting the better of me, and if it is a number from overseas, I don't want to call to find out.

there is another possibility. sometimes telecommunications equipment vendors program their equipment to send whatever i.d. they choose, or they may not program their id at all. so if your call came from customer pbx (switch), the phone company would transmit whatever it receives from that originating equipment. if the caller did not want to be id'd, he could have programmed his equipment to send anything.Invalid area code?
Domestic area code to Singapore.
