How would I instruct someone in Peru to call me in the United States?

My father went to Peru for holiday, and he is rather old, and has a hard time looking things up on the internet.

I've obviously never had to call myself from another country - what series of numbers would he dial so that he could reach me here? Is it just country code (01) then my area code ( say, 123) then my phone number (123-4567)? Or is there another number that I need to throw in there as well?

Thanks all

00 (international)

1 (United States)

123 (area code)

123-4567 (your number)

So:

00-1-123-123456How would I instruct someone in Peru to call me in the United States?
International dialing is fairly standard from country to country, though it can vary depending on the particular country's phone system. As you surmised, the general way would be to dial the international calling access number, which under most U.S. companies is 011, then the country code (the United States' is 1), then the area code, then the phone number. As an example, your father could dial 011-1-123-456-7890. However, he must first ascertain Peru's international calling access number. Once having outside (PSTN) tone it would be:

00 - 1 - 123 - 123-4567
